Awareness Against Stigmatization in Schizophrenia

Third-year nursing students carried out a volunteer project to prevent stigmatization in schizophrenia.


Faculty of Health Sciences 3rd-year nursing students carried out a volunteer project titled "Silent Scream" within the scope of the Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing course. The project aimed to raise awareness and draw attention to the stigmatization experienced by individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia. The event was held on May 8, 2025, at the canteen area of the Faculty of Theology, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University.As part of the project, informative posters and brochures on schizophrenia and stigmatization were distributed to students and staff on campus. Through the project's social media account, awareness messages, informational content, short video clips, and event announcements were shared. A short awareness video portraying the lives of individuals with schizophrenia and the stigma they face in society was created and posted on social media. Participants were encouraged to participate in an online survey via a QR code. Additionally, an art exhibition featured works created by artists diagnosed with schizophrenia, accompanied by brief biographical notes about their lives. A total of 264 students were reached through the project.
